An Assam outfit has lodged a complaint with the police against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra

GUWAHATI: An Assam outfit has lodged a complaint with the police against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for her recent tweet suggesting that the phrase “sexual harassment” be replaced with “Mr Gogoi”, which is a surname among the Ahom community in the state.
Moitra has clarified on Twitter that her post was not meant for all Gogois but for “Mister Ranjan Gogoi. Honourable MP, Rajya Sabha,” who is a former CJI.
Police said a written complaint by Jatiya Sangrami Sena was received on Friday by Sivasagar Sadar police but no case has been registered as yet. The outfit alleged that Moitra had insulted the entire Assamese community and demanded an unconditional apology.
The Assam BJP also demanded an apology. “The unparliamentary word used by Moitra is an insult to all the people of Assam,” spokesperson Mominul Awal said, demanding that state TMC president Ripun Bora should also apologise to the people.
