NEW DELHI: Accusing Congress member Rahul Gandhi of trying to spread confusion and demoralise soldiers, BJP on Friday said the new India under PM Narendra Modi gives a befitting reply to inimical forces unlike when Jawaharlal Nehru was at the helm, which saw India ceding over 37,000 sq km to China during the 1962 conflict.
“This is Modi’s India, this is new India. Now if anyone raises an eye against the country, he gets a befitting reply,” said ex-Union minister and BJP spokesperson Rajyavardhan Rathore.
“Rahul Gandhi feels there should be proximity with China. Now, he has developed so much proximity that he knows what China will do,” said Rathore. “During his yatra, Gandhi has make comments about Indian security and border areas to spread confusion in the country and demoralise Indian soldiers. This is not the India of his great grandfather Nehru, who lost 37,242 square km to China while sleeping,” he added.
He said Gandhi should not make irresponsible remarks about national security in a bid to “relaunch” himself.
Referring to the Sonia Gandhi-headed Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, Rathore alleged, “It was on the payrolls of the Communist Party of China. Congress signed an agreement with the Communist Party of China.”
Earlier in the day, Gandhi had said, “I can see the threat of China very clearly. I have been clear on this for the last two-three years, but government is trying to hide it and ignore it. This threat can neither be hidden or ignored.”
Meanwhile, Union minister Giriraj Singh tweeted, “China cannot find a more loyal man than him (Rahul)”, while sharing a video in which the ex-Congress chief is purportedly heard saying that Chinese soldiers had thrashed Indian jawans.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya tweeted, “Every proud Indian has seen videos of our men in uniform thrashing Chinese soldiers, except of course Rahul Gandhi, who continues to doubt their valour just because he signed an MoU with the Chinese; his family enjoyed Chinese hospitality and received funds in RG Foundation… .”
