NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation on the 94th episode of his monthly radio broadcast, Mann Ki Baat. While he started with greetings of Chhath Puja, the address was mainly focussed on production of electricity from solar energy in India, revolution in technology, and the space sector.
Here are the key highlights from his address:
*”The festival of Chhath emphasises the importance of cleanliness in our lives… the festival is also an example of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. Today, wherever the people of Bihar and Purvanchal are, Chhath is being celebrated with great pomp,” PM Modi said.
*”India is among the leading countries in solar power sector, and this is transforming the lives of the poor and middle class of our country,” he said.
*Drawing an example, the Prime Minister said today, most of the houses in Modhera Surya Gram have started generating electricity from solar power. “Now in several families in the village do not have to pay electricity bills at the end of the month; instead they are making money by generating electricity from solar power,” PM Modi said.
*India is doing wonders in the space sector as well, PM Modi said, adding: ” The whole world, today, is astonished to see the achievements of India. After the space sector was opened for India’s youth, revolutionary changes started coming into it.”
*The Prime Minister also pointed out that Indian industries and start-ups are bringing new innovations & technologies in the space sector.
*”Student power is foundation of a powerful India. Only the youth will take India till 2047. When India celebrates her centenary, this power of youth, their hard work, their sweat, their talent, will take India to the heights that country is resolving today,” PM Modi also said.
*On November 15, India will celebrate ‘Janjateeya Gaurav Diwas’. “We started this last year to celebrate the tribal heritage and pride on the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda,” the PM noted.
*”We have recently launched Mission LiFE, an initiative to promote sustainable living and making lifestyle choices that are good for the environment,” the PM stated.
