The movie which marks the actor’s return to films after a 4-year hiatus will see him sharing screen space with Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. While the film is expected to break records at the Indian box office, it is also expected to make waves on the international front. With all the hype and excitement surrounding the film, reports state that the film may just be on its way to becoming SRK‘s biggest opener at the overseas markets.
According to the latest reports, the film has recorded a Blockbuster start with its advance bookings. Pathaan is fetching phenomenal numbers in countries like USA, UAE, Germany and Australia. With over 3,500 tickets sold and $50,000 collected for the debut shows, ‘Pathaan’ is already set to be SRK’s biggest opener in UAE. Australia has also recorded similar ticket sales and an estimated $65,000 in its kitty. The film’s collections may see a bigger boost thanks to the Australia Day celebrations on Jan 26th.
Currently, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavaat holds the highest opening day record in Australia with collections of $364,000. The film also released on the same day 25th January.
Meanwhile, in Germany, the film had sold 8,500 tickets (€125,000) as of yesterday for the 5-day weekend, with 4,000 sold from the opening day shows. SRK currently holds the record for the biggest opening weekend with Dilwale that earned €142,983.
Reports also state that markets like North America and the United Kingdom saw good revenue generated from pre-sales.
‘Pathaan’ is touted to be one of India’s biggest action spectacles to date and is set to kick off Bollywood’s first spy universe. Salman Khan is expected to make an extended cameo in the film Tiger. His appearance was closely guarded as the makers want to keep his entrance into the film as a surprise.
The spy universe will continue with SRK’s highly anticipated cross-over into ‘Tiger 3’, where he will join forces with Salman and Katrina Kaif. The film also stars Emraan Hashmi and is slated for a Diwali 2023 release.
